This is not just a big, fruity Rh\u00f4ne wine \u2013 it simultaneously shows <strong data-start=\"589\" data-end=\"668\">ripe red and black berries, Mediterranean herbs, pepperiness and earthy depth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"669\">The aroma reveals <strong data-start=\"685\" data-end=\"743\">blackcurrant, raspberry, ripe cherry and dark berries<\/strong>, joined by black pepper, dried herbs, liquorice and the typical Rh\u00f4ne <em data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"833\">garrigue<\/em> \u2013 the scent of wild Mediterranean herbs and shrubs. On the palate the wine is <strong data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1084\">concentrated, meaty and layered<\/strong>, but not clumsily heavy. Ripe tannins provide structure, acidity keeps the wine fresh, and the finish is long, herbal and lightly liquorice-tinged. As it evolves, nuances of leather, forest floor and dried rosemary emerge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"1771\" data-end=\"2061\">La Ferme du Mont is <strong data-start=\"1791\" data-end=\"1810\">St\u00e9phane Vedeau's<\/strong> Rh\u00f4ne <em>domaine<\/em>, for which the expression of <em>terroir<\/em> is paramount. The producer's winemaking philosophy is quite close to nature, and synthetic pesticides and chemicals are avoided in the vineyards. What is especially interesting about Le Rif is <strong data-start=\"2093\" data-end=\"2111\">the old Mourv\u00e8dre<\/strong>. The small berries of late-harvested old Mourv\u00e8dre vines are one of the keys to this cuv\u00e9e's character.
