AdegaMãe Castelão

Castelão is one of Portugal's many local grape varieties. It is grown mainly in the country's southern coastal areas, but is not unknown in port production either. Quite tannic when young, it softens as the wine matures. AdegaMãe Castelão is a medium-bodied dry red wine showing mainly red berries. By nature it has pleasant acidity and a fairly juicy style. The tannins are nicely integrated with the fruit — noticeable, but nonetheless soft. The wine matured for 10 months in French oak, which also adds a little soft spiciness and pepperiness. After bottling, the wine was left to mature for another year. An easy-drinking, multifaceted wine where every sip brings new flavours!
Among ingredients it loves lamb, so it's time to dig out all those recipes! Slightly stronger, more mature cheeses would also pair nicely.
