Ronco di Sassi Grappa Riserva is a grappa 12 aged for up to 18 months in small wooden casks ,resulting in a distillate that is considerably rounder and more complex than a typical white grappa. The producer describes it as elegant and smooth, with a characteristic amber colour that comes from the wood ageing.
In the glass, the drink is amber-gold, not transparent like a young grappa. In the aroma and taste you can expect vanilla and sweet spices, nuances of toasted wood, dried fruit, nuts, a light caramel note and a warm, gentle spiciness. The texture is round and velvety, the finish long and warming. The alcohol content is typically high, but the wood ageing helps to soften it.
Ronco di Sassi is a grappa An Italian wine brandbacked by Provinco Italia S.p.A. in Rovereto, in the Trentino region. The brand focuses on presenting wines and distillates from different regions of Italy, especially through the wines of Southern Italy. The producer's portfolio includes classic Southern Italian varieties such as Primitivo and Negroamaro — hopefully, wines made from these grapes will soon also reach Veinitaja's selection.
