Charly Nicolle Petit Chablis AOC
2315 €
Domaine Charly Nicolle Petit Chablis is a classic fresh-style white wine from northern Burgundy, made from 100% Chardonnay. This is the lightest appellation level of the Chablis region, but with Charly Nicolle the focus is still very clearly on terroir: freshness, minerality and pure fruit. Petit Chablis comes from the region's younger Portlandian limestone soils, which give the wine purity, florality and freshness rather than the deeper Kimmeridgian minerality often found in the higher tiers of Chablis.
In the glass you'll find: lemon and lime, green apple, white blossoms (especially acacia), a light peachy fruitiness, chalky and maritime minerality. On the palate the wine is dry, with bright acidity, lighter in body than regular Chablis, with a very clean and fresh finish. Unlike many richer Chardonnays, this wine doesn't reach for buttery or vanilla oak — it is made in stainless steel, though it does age for 10 months on the lees (sur lie), which gives it a little texture and depth.
Domaine Charly Nicolle is located in the village of Fleys, in the heart of the Chablis region. It is a family winery whose vineyards lie on the limestone and chalk soils around Chablis. The winery grows mainly Chardonnay and produces the various levels of Chablis up to Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines.
