Piubello Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG

4880 €

Piubello Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is one of Veneto's most iconic wine styles – a rich, concentrated yet elegant red wine born of the traditional appassimento method. In its production, the harvested grapes are dried for about 90 days, during which part of the water evaporates and the sugars, colour and aromas become concentrated in the berries.

The wine opens with a deep ruby-red colour and offers an intense world of aromas: ripe cherries, dried plums, amarena cherry, dark chocolate, sweet spices and tobacco. On the palate it has the richness typical of Amarone – full-bodied, velvety and long on the finish, yet well balanced with freshness and silky tannins. This is a wine that is not merely a companion to food, but is also perfect for slow, contemplative enjoyment.

Andrea Piubello is a smaller Valpolicella producer focused on local varieties and the region's traditional wines. His Amarone comes from the Monte Cereolo vineyard, where limestone-rich soil and the old pergola veronese training system help give the grapes concentration and mineral structure. The Amarone is made from vines around 45 years old on average. After drying, the berries undergo controlled fermentation, and the wine matures first in steel tanks and then for 30 months in French and American oak tonneaux. It then gets at least another year of bottle ageing before reaching the market.
