Tenuta Selvaforte Chianti DOCG

Tenuta Selvaforte Chianti DOCG is a grappa a Chianti in a classic and very food-friendly style, where Sangiovese gives the wine its characteristic fresh acidity, red berry fruit and slightly spicy character. The grapes come from the Valdarno hills (Colline del Valdarno), from roughly 25-year-old vines growing at an average altitude of 250 m. Harvesting is done by hand and the wine is made using the traditional red wine method.

The aroma is vinoso – winey and juicy – led above all by red berries (currant, cherry) and red rose. On the palate the wine is dry, fresh and lightly tannic, but well balanced. This is not a heavy or overripe Tuscan red – rather an elegant, juicy and classic Chiantithat is easy to drink with food.

Tenuta Selvaforte behind it is the Molendi family, whose winemaking story dates back to the 19th century. According to the family's own history, Duca Carlo Bussola planted the first vineyard as early as 1880, and in the early 1900s the wine began to be sold in the region. The modern Tenuta Selvaforte brand was created in 2022 under the leadership of Filippo and Francesca Molendi. The producer's vineyards are located in the hills of Upper Valdarno (Valdarno Superiore), where the grapes receive good sunlight and benefit from the winds coming up the valley. Day-to-day work combines modern technology with environmentally friendly farming methods.
