AdegaMãe Vinhas Velhas Vital
2545 €
A special wine. It comes from an old vineyard on a west-facing slope in the heart of the Serra de Montejunto, whose terroir is iconic for the expression of this variety. Aged in concrete, the wine retains the fruity notes typical of this grape and brings out a unique texture and complexity. The wine is fermented in 400-litre French oak barrels. Bâtonnage lasts 12 months.
A pleasing golden-yellow colour. The rich aromatic profile is made possible by the age of the vineyards, which brings these grapes to life. Floral and complex, showing white fruit, smokiness and gunflint notes that contribute to its aromatic richness. This is a dry wine with fresh acidity, a light salinity and a fuller texture. The wine opens up with every glass, and each sip results in a rich and balanced finish. Decanting is recommended, and serving from a Burgundy-style wine glass at 12 degrees.
As this is a fuller-bodied white wine, the food enjoyed with it can also be more robust. Oven-baked meat dishes, lamb and oily fish could be some suitable choices alongside this highly gastronomic wine.
