Bodega Volcanes Carmenere Reserva

1590 €

Bodega Volcanes Reserva Carmenère is a characterful Chilean red wine that superbly expresses the essence of the Carmenère variety and the influence of volcanic soils. The wine comes from the Central Valley region and is made from 85% Carmenère and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine matures for 8–9 months in French and American oak barrels, which adds depth and soft spicy notes.

In colour the wine is a deep violet-red. The aroma is dominated by ripe blackberries, black plums and blackcurrant, joined by dark chocolate, toast, black olives and the black pepper and herbal nuances characteristic of Carmenère. The taste is full-bodied and velvety, with ripe soft tannins and a long, spicy finish. Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure to the wine, while Carmenère lends it juiciness and a silky texture.

Bodega Volcanes de Chile focuses on wines that reflect the character of Chile's volcanic soils . The winery's philosophy is to highlight the minerality of the growing site and the pure character of the variety in each wine, avoiding excessive oak influence. The grapes are grown in various Chilean valleys, where soils of volcanic origin help retain moisture, provide good drainage and give the wines a special freshness and mineral character. The winery's name “Volcanes” refers precisely to the most important feature of their terroir – the volcanoes.
