Charly Nicolle Chablis Grand Cru AOC “Bougros”

6780 €

Charly Nicolle Chablis Grand Cru “Bougros” is an example of one of Burgundy's most prestigious white wine tiers – made from 100% Chardonnay from a Chablis Grand Cru site. “Bougros” is one of the seven Grand Cru climats of Chablis and is known for its richer, more powerful and riper style compared to many other Chablis sites. This is a Chablis where the classic minerality doesn't go anywhere, but more depth and texture are added. The average age of the vines is over 60 years.

The aroma and taste offer ripe lemon, yellow apple, white peach, ripe stone fruit, acacia blossom, almond, nuttiness and a light honeyed note, chalky wet stone and maritime salinity. This is the producer's fullest and most flavour-rich Chablis. Dry, concentrated and with a very long mineral finish.

Like the producer's other wines, this wine also matures on the lees (12-18 months depending on the vintage) and part of the wine matures in oak (demi-muids), which adds more texture and complexity but does not turn it into a buttery California-style Chardonnay. All Domaine Charly Nicolle Chablis wines have undergone 100% malolactic fermentation. Ready to drink now or to cellar for up to another 15 years.

Domaine Charly Nicolle is located in the village of Fleys in the Chablis region. It is a family winery whose entire identity is built on Chardonnay and the Chablis terroir. Their range includes Petit Chablis, Chablis, Premier Crus and the Grand Cru “Bougros”. Charly Nicolle's style is rather pure and terroir-focused: the aim is not to make a rich international Chardonnay, but to show the chalky minerality of Chablis, its freshness and the differences between growing sites.
